SCHOOL BOARD SCHOOL
WHAT / WHO
The first School Board School (SBS1) was such a success (see the overview and media coverage below) that we're hosting another. In response to input from participants at SBS1, this workshop will be a more hands-on, in-depth preparatory experience
for anyone interested in being education advocates (policy track) or people interested in being/supporting school board candidates (campaign track).
WHY / WHY NOW
The well-being of Kansas City and the KCMSD are inextricably linked one to the other -- we can't have a world-class community without world-class schools. But world-class schools don't happen by accident. They require highly engaged communities and leaders; they require us.
This coming April, there will be five seats on the KCMSD board up for election. This workshop is presented as an effort to bolster our democratic process and ensure that our scholars benefit from competitive school board races.
